At the PRS Match held at Darwin we used the Big Bore Range and shot at 900 m. One bloke shot a 60.4 in under 90 seconds with no wind flags.
I've met Jerry a couple of times and he is a great bloke.

I read this thread only because I saw your name on it. I think you are the only one that has truly addressed the topic

Also called pickers and runners by some. As has been said it’s a skill I think you should know. Will you use it all the time? No but when needed you should be able to do it. Be smooth and fast when you do.

Two summers ago we where shooting a team F Class match at a 1k. Light and wind conditions where horrible. I was shooting and coaching. Wind at times was running left to right and what was interesting was when it got really dark (no sun at all during the match) and the wind picked up from left to right I noticed that the guns where always shooting low left which totally didn’t make any sense at all. I noticed it late in Dave’s relay and second guessed myself on telling him what to do. We get Mark on the line and sure enough a few rounds into the relay and I noticed the same thing happening. Got to a point virtually no shooter on the line was shooting. So I asked Mark to send a round down range but wanted him to give me a mid ring 8 hold at 2 o’clock. He looked at me like I was half nuts. I said win and lose as a team and I told him we we’re not going to learn anything if he didn’t do it. So he lets the round go and it came up a perfect center X. Faster than you could blink we both looked at each other. All I said was load and be ready and that we we’re going to run it as fast as we can. Shot 6 more X’s in the row and we where the only ones shooting. Then he blew a 9 out the top and nothing in the conditions could you see that changed at all. After the relay I went and talked to Dave who was also watching on a spotting scope and he said he didn’t see any change either. Anyways I had him hold up and reassessed what was going on. He only shot one more X after that but we where holding the 10 ring. He had a nice run on that relay with a 196-9x.
