Labradar Recoil Trigger (A $5 diy project)

For what its worth, it triggered on 20 out of 20 shots off the heavy barrel CZ .22 with a mixture of off hand, bi-pod and bi-pod and bag with no erroneous triggers. For amusement I tried taping the trigger to the barrel and as expected it detected 0 out of 5 shots. How Velcro works I don't know for light recoiling rifles.

It looks like those triggers are only available from China,,, via carrier pigeon!

I have stacks of caps and resistors so I you are prepared to wait I can get more switches and probably post out enough components for you to make two units for $5 you would need to source your own lead and mount. If I can find cheap enough plugs and mounts I may make a few up to fit to the pic rail as shown but it won't be quick as I will probably have to get the mounts from China

If the switches have to come from china I will try RS components. I have leads and 3 of those pic mount levels (they are crap levels so ideal to repurpose).

I couldn't find them from RS (hence why I used ebay to start) but have found them here and will order another few in the morning...

My own one cost a bit more than $5 with resin printed holder and high quality 2 meter right angeled lead.
They make a recording of velocity while shooting my FO rig much more reliable although you still need to align the labrador correctly.
Do not seem to miss any shots now as the normal way misses 1 shot every now and then.
Typically its the one in my ladder test that you really wanted to know its speed

The only downside is if you slam the bolt you get some funny velocity readings as it arms the radar with no shot.
I do feel slamming the bolt is not a good idea so it trains the shooter to be nice and smooth.

Good morning,
This is my first post, just would like to introduce myself, I am from South Africa. I do mostly longrange shooting and use a 284 Shehane.

Saw the topic about the Recoil trigger, I have sent 10 units across to Australia in July, my unit is called RAT, stands for Recoil Activation Trigger.
This one will not activate when slam the bolt close.
Let me if you like more info.

Hi, I was looking at the triggers available from offshore, was pleased to come across this forum.

I have put together a prototype tested successfully. I had some PCBs made with places for surface mount components for the resistor and capacitor and ordered a few vibration sensors. the component costs are low but had to be ordered ordered in reasonable quantities. Happy to share at cost.

I mounted the design in a printed clip for a 20mm rail.

Honestly I think that I would just purchase the one that Labradar make for that purpose. Not excessively expensive works well and doesn't risk voiding the warranty!
