Actually, John, we were 1,2,3 and 5, with Gary Rasmussen from the states in 4th. Not taking anything away from them and them, still an awesome job.

Seeing as it is a target rifle event I am sure it will be highly (by NRAA standards) publicised!!!!!
That said it is a magnificent win & I for one applaud all those involved. Lovely to see the young guns perform so well, an excellent mix of young and older shooters & the coaching was as good as it can be. A huge congratulations and a wonderfull result for all the hard work that everyone involved has put in.

All team members I am sure are very proud of their accomplishments.
To win the U21,U25, Veterans and Palma Teams as well as the Ballinger belt, individual world championships. An excellent and exceptional achievement by all involved.

Just look at the centre count, wonder if any coaches would put put their hand up for F- Class coaching. The conditions were at best, Terrible the whole time.

Here are some comments from the results site. It seemed to be tricky on the first day, then much gentler the following day. Certainly uncharteristic of Windy Wellington


Day 1 - 900y Moderate fishtailing wind from behind. All teams taking long pauses. All finished at 900yds for lunch break.

Day 1 - 1000y We are underway at 1000yds, wind gusting at the start then calmer but changes back and forth through zero

Day 1 overview A day of lighter than usual winds but suitably fickle to allow the unwary to stray into the white area of the target. Australia win the day with a series of strong performances. None more impressive than Mitchel Bailey’s 225 v 30; a new one-day individual record. Superb shooting and coaching by family Bailey.

Day 2 - 800y Almost no wind this morning with an extreme wind bracket of 3/4 left to 1/4 right. Mostly shot through on 0-1/4 left.

An update on day 2 for the conditions....a couple of teams including USA ran into time issues

Wind running 6 to 10 minutes at 1000 yds. Everybody was dropping points but it looks like the Brits may have gotten 2nd.

By now, many of you will already be aware of what I set out below. But I think it is worthy of reproduction.

On Day 1, Range 1, 800 yards, Australia came second to USA by 2 points. It then proceeded to win the remaining 5 Ranges. The biggest margin was 26, over GB, at the last Range, 1000 yards.

All 4 coachers were in the Top 5.

8 of our Shooters (half the Team) were in the Top 10.

Australia defeated GB by 77 points, USA by 96 and SA by 115.

Simply brutal; no fun if you were on the receiving end.

I have written before about the dominance of GB in the LRWC/Palma. It is worth revisiting the results of the "modern era" of the 2-day competition.
