Private Message Outbox Clarification

I get occasional queries about sent messages remaining in the PM Outbox for days and even weeks. The reason is that the Forum Outbox works differently from normal e-mail Outboxes. Sent messages will remain displayed in your Outbox until they are opened by the recipient. Unfortunately some members don't check their PM Inboxes regularly. This can be due to the fact that they aren't being notified by e-mail about PMs and other things. By default, forum members will be notified by e-mail when they receive a PM. However this will be sent to the e-mail address in their forum account settings, and if that is not current, they will not get it. In that situation its no good asking me to contact them because I only have the inactive e-mail address! If its very important, post a request asking if anyone knows the recipient by their login name, and can ask them to check their PMs.

Nice to get thanked Marty, but I'm no longer doing the Admin. The current forum owner Graham Willis would have been the one who pointed you in the right direction.
