Travel permits required in Western Australia

Post by Billy308 »

Hi fellow shooters,
What is currently required in the way of permits in Western Australia for interstate shooters travelling both ways through Perth Airport :?:
I plan on going to Bisley Uk in July with 5kg of ammo and two Barnard rifles one registered as a 7.62m and one a 308i
Thank you in advance,
Bill

Bill,
If you are only in transit through Perth, you may not need a permit. Best to phone either WAPOL (1300 171 011) or your carrier for information. Do it well in advance of your flight.

Hi Bill,

We recently went to the UK through Perth and there was no requirement for WA permits. The issue was getting through Border Force and I hope you have about 4 hours between landing and boarding to get through that process.... I think it took us about 5 hours to get three shooters through.... I will not fly that route again.

They did require an export declaration 162A(6A) which the lady in Brisbane (on return) explained was not necessary as we all had Defence Export Permits.... you just never know what you get....
