Hello shooters.
I'm after some feedback on PAC-NOR barrels, in particular 5 groove 6mm calibre super match grade stainless steel heavy Palma profile. Can anyone shed some light on accuracy and barrel life? It will be chambered in 243 Winchester for varmint use in a Remington 700 action.
Thanks,
Bushlander

I've had one Pacnor before, good barrel much the same as most of the others, as to barrel life, I've shot out several 243's mostly Ackleys using 107's SMK and 40-43 grains of 2209 barrels where gone between 1200-1500 rounds, in saying that, thats FO accuracy for bunny busting would have gone longer.

Pac-nors are button rifled, unlike most so called "match" barrels, which would be cut rifled. My current 5 groove 30 cal in 308 holds under 1MOA elevation at 1000yards on my elbows. The finish is extremely good, no matter what the "grade".
They are also very concentric to the bore when turning on the lathe.
Life is more about what chambering you use, than the barrel, as they are mostly made from the same stuff.
I like the 3 groove variations, as they seem to last a little longer.
