Savage 12 6.5x47 Build

Post by John23 »

Gday Everyone

Thought I would show off the new rifle and also get some advice on how I should continue the build and also basic tips to help a noob to Fclass shooting

The rifle is chambered in 6.5x47 no turn and I will be shooting 130gr VLD

I made the adjustable butt this week and it works really well. I noticed not many of you guys use them but I figured it will not hurt and also ad a bit of bling
Anyway I will start with a heap of pics and then follow with a few simple questions

I purchased a Protektor bumble bee bag for her, its the 3 stitch as the rifle is about 25mm wide on the base.

Is the rifle meant to sit on the stitches (bottom of the V) or only ride on the ears?

I have had 2 opposite opinions from both experienced shooters.
Whats you guys take on this?

Also I am about to start adding lead to the stock. The rifle is 7.5kg ready to shoot now.

Is there any really rule on where to apply the lead?
Will it effect how the rifle shoots? as in more or less in the butt or fore end?

Anyway I hope you enjoy.

JH ;)

Hi John, must admit I'm a sucker for a nice looking butt, however, in F class, I find it makes no difference, I shoot free recoil. But very nice job on the butt.

Great looking outfit, I'm sure you will enjoy using it.

Pride in ownership is very important.

Cheers
Danny

John, I use my front rest for elevation and windage adjustments, therefore the rear bag is only used to ensure the rifle is tracking correctly, therefore, the butt slides in the bottom of the V or ears.

Hope that explains it.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I am using a Caldwell coaxial rest (joystick)

So yes the bag will only be used to hold the rifle.

Topic is still split down the middle.....
