Reamer specs

Post by Norm »

For those of you that use custom reamers for tight match grade chambers.

How much clearance do you specify between the reamer diameter and the diameter of new brass at the case head and also at the case shoulder?

I'm looking to order a custom reamer set and don't wan't to stuff it up.

Thanks.

norm,
if it is a factory case, saami min spec chambers are good.
on top of that, specify a loaded neck diameter if you are neckturning.
for 7mm, 0.312 or 0.313 seems to work well
can't remember 6.5mm, but somewhere between 0.292 & 296?
if you can afford it, order another reamer at the same time to chamber a minimum fls die for your chamber. havind chambered the die blank, you can then use it as a roughing reamer to save your finisher.
keep safe,
bruce.

Thanks Bruce,
I have a few reamers but the standard ones are too large in the body. As such I will be ordering them from now on to my own specs.
Problem is desciding on how tight to make the body. :?:
