Hi!

Seb here. Just joining this forum today, thank you Mr. Fraser for the kind welcome! Hopefully I can learn many things from this forum & the members!
I am a newbie in F-Class & would love to involve in the community in the future.

Kind Regards

My first question:
When I looked at http://www.nraa.com.au/nraa-national-ch ... 4-results/ - there are several categories such as Target Rifle (A/B/C), F Standard (A-B) and F/TR(A).
Somebody tells me what are the differences between Target Rifle A & B or C? Also the F Standard A & B? On the other side, I don't see F/TR B?

Also, where can I see F-Class match schedule 2014 & 2015?

Thanks,
seb.

Welcome Seb,

All shooters are graded. Much like USA has High Master, Master, Sharpshooter etc. Ours are A, B, C.

This is the first year FTR has been approved in Australia, and as numbers increase so will the grades offered.

Check out the same NRAA website for this years matches.

Welcome seb,
The A B and C are the grades. I believe the amount of grades each class or discipline has is dictated by the amount of people shooting it. TR has been around for a long time and has a large following. F standard is generally where people start if they want to use a scope thus has a B grade. FTR is very new to Australian competition and is building it's following fast but not enough for a B grade. There is also F open.
I'll do a very short summery for each class/discipline
TR - Shooting a 308 or 223 prone with a jacket and sling. Using peep sights to aim and no rest. Also has a few ammunition component restrictions such a projectile weight, powder.
FS - shooting a 308 or 223 prone with a front rest (rest or bipod) and rear rest (special type of sand bag). Using a scope for aiming and same ammo restrictions as TR. FS is Australian only (not shot in international comps)
FTR - very similar to FS however a bipod must be used as the front rest and there are no projectile restrictions.
FO - again very similar to FS accept less restrictions. Any calibre that complies with the range rules, a heavier rifle.
By far the best way to learn is to join a club if you haven't already done so.
Schedules can be found on your state association page or club we'd pages. Where exactly are you and I'll post some links.

Thank you Linda & Josh for the kind reply!

I have shot some BR matches & Fly Shoots in Australia but never attend the F-Class, so let me see if I could participate in some of Australian F-Class matches in the future.

Cheers,
seb.

Hello Seb
The QRA Queens in Brisbane is usually well attended and a great bunch!
It is a bit less than 2 months away - held mid August.
Most likely the best 1000 yard range in Oz or southern hemisphere.
The range is right in the city these days! And just off the north / south freeway giving easy access to the airport.

Hi Seb

Good to see you here. You have certainly come to the right place for F Class in Australia.

But you haven't got time to read posts - get back to making NEOs!

Hello seb, enjoy the forum.

I'm sure that any of the NRAA associations and clubs would welcome new participants, but you might find clubs and ranges under the Northern Territory Rifle Association (NTRA) or the North Queensland Rifle Association (NQRA) a little closer to Indonesia and it's climate. :D
Be careful what you aim for, you might hit it! Antipodean Industrial - Home of the G7L projectiles

Thanks guys!

Seems that I need to build another rifle. :)

Probably a switch barrel rifle in .308 & 284 win (or 6 Dasher), and a 'universal' stock w/ weight system - that way I can shoot either FTR or FOpen.

-----

BTW, who are the best F-Class gunsmiths in Oz?

I've heard Matt Paroz's name mentioned more than once. But there's others too

Thank you again, gentlemen!

Mr. Braund, your are most welcome. Without the helps of many fellow shooters around the world our rests wouldn't be 'like this' now. I'm just 'tailoring' the inputs & accommodate the needs here. I always consider myself as a newbie & need to learn so many things.

Q: Is there team match (FTR/FStandard/FO) in Oz?

Cheers,
seb.
