I'm using some high pile carpet glued to a thick rubber mat with very good results. From what I can decipher it's with in the rules.

I used to use a piece of conveyor belt. The internal metal strings added support and reduced a bit of rubber bounce like carpet does and was better than just carpet. It was heavy but good on lumpy mounds and didn't slide on recoil on dry ground.

SSRs 20.10.1.2(a)

the feet of the bipod may be placed on the ground, or on material such as carpet or on a board.....

Your piece of ply would qualify as a board.

Does that differ at all from the F-T/R rules?

Hi,

Can someone please clarify the differences between F Standard and FTR front bipod platform for use in Autralia.
Thank-you

The major difference is that the F/TR bipod itself can have spikes which can be pressed into the ground up to 50mm. Other than that it's pretty much open slather. F/TR "..any number and type of object(s) (of any material)...". F Std 20.10.1.2 was quoted a couple of posts further up and further states that a board can have spikes no longer than 50mm and that the feet of the bipod must be free to slide in any direction.
