MagnetoSpeed Power Problem

I know there are a good number of these being used now, so am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. Yesterday our Club Magnetospeed (version 2) worked perfectly. This morning I set it up on the same barrel, and it wouldn't switch on. So I changed the batteries and it worked. Then at the range I tried it again, and it wouldn't switch on. So I took the batteries out and they tested okay, put them back and it switched on, but in the setup menu. Then when I pulled the cable out it stayed on (????). I believe its a problem with the switch? Not sure exactly how the switch works - its meant to switch on when you push the plug in. Any help appreciated.

I'll try that Brad. Does anyone know how the on-off switch works? Does it sense electronically that the bayonet is connected, or is it just a mechanical switch activated by the DIN plug being pushed in?

Can you open the case at all Allen to see if there is anything obvious? I had an issue with one a while back where the lcd back light would illuminate but wouldn't display anything. I sent them an email and the customer service was excellent. They sent me a new display unit straight away and all they asked in return was for the old one sent back. That could be a second option for you?

My V2 behaved in a very similar fashion to what you described, Alan.
Erratic behaviour just like yours. Eventually it just wouldn't turn on, or if it powered up,it wouldn't register a shot, so I emailed them, got a "Return" started in their system, then did an International Express Post of the monitor back to them.
Got an email a week or so later saying that a refurbished replacement unit was on the way, as my own had clearly failed.
Mine was waaaaay out if warranty, and I only had to pay about $20 towards the postage, so i was happy with that. Had the replacement in about ten days and it hasn't missed a beat since, despite my best efforts to over use it and wear it out.

Alan,
Does your unit have the rotary thumb toggle switch? I understand your problem, my old unit worked fine until the rotary switch fell off. so maybe it's good for spares??

Problem has gone away . I believe it was because a couple of grains of sand had got into the DIN socket on the processor unit, which were blown out with compressed air. Time will tell whether that was the cause. Thanks all for the suggestions.
